a woman's body is...

http://allanspalace.com/showthread.php?t=9469

a trip back to the poetry forum that i used to frequent when my writing wasn't quite so solipsistic reminded me of how much my mindset has been shifted these past months. that link contains a poem written by one of my favourite regulars at the forum, and i still enjoy certain nuances of his writing. but that sort of writing is exactly the patriarchal poo poo that clenches my nerves up. it's as if it is the prerogative of men to impose his own vision upon the female body, objectifying it with his gaze into something created for his enjoyment and sensual [sexual] gratification. and to make matters worse, so many women out there are actually complicit in this whole pile of donkey crap. i've never understood how anyone could proclaim that there is nothing wrong with pornography, particularly when i happen to find it one of the most offensive things on earth. and i don't care if everyone thinks it okay, perhaps that just goes to show how twisted our morals have gotten. that woman on screen you're ogling at is someone's daughter, someone's sister, possibly someone's mother. it's a total lack of respect for the women in your life. but what i hate most is how it's a perfect specimen to show how men fail to look beyond the physical representation of the female. and that's what's killing so many wonderful people out there; girls who have such innate value but who fall short of the benchmark of the male gaze are convinced that they are imperfect. and yet, to anyone who cares to look deeper, they're worth all the love in the world. the beauty of their souls could possibly far supercede that of a jessica alba or any porn star by a mile; but are the myopic counterparts who share the earth privy to that?

a woman's body is but a carrying case for her soul.

still, i guess i'm but a voice in the darkness. because this world is not about happily-ever-afters anymore, is it? i've known of guys who proclaim that girls are evil, soul sucking things who keep their freedom under lock and key. while they, on the other hand, reserve the right to subject girls to their materialistic and superficial expectations. still, what i believe is that no one knows love like a girl. these are the people who would die for you, give up their soul for you. who would rather consume her own heart than subject yours to hurt of any sort. who would carry on the baggage of the love you once shared long after you've chosen to dump it away. i know there are exceptions to both the sexes; still, the moron who decided that all girls were evil didn't bother to take that into account, did he? and maybe it's his failure to look beyond his physical, lust-ridden interpretation of the female that results in him having yet to find his happiness. well, more fool him.

actually, more fool me, for even thinking that this matters at all. he'd probably find a nubile young thing some day, and i'd remain me, a less than perfect female who can boast of nothing but her ability to love beyond the physical.

*

mr c, if you ever read this; know that i love you now, and my love will last forever. because what i love most about you is something that will always be there. and if you love me, love me from inside out. that's the only form of love that i want. and that's the only love that will sustain beyond the ugliness of this world.
